Tru-Vision Clothing announced Partnership with STC Educational and Leadership Fund (SELF)

For every “Fine Gyal Made in Liberia” shirt sold in July and August, Tru-Vision Clothing will donate 20 percent of the total earnings to STC Educational and Leadership Fund (SELF) for the purpose of helping girls in Liberia.

Largo, MD –July 24, 2012 – In an effort to help create a bright future for girls in Liberia, Tru-Vision is partnering with STC Educational and Leadership Fund for the organization’s annual summer event. The event is “Friskies Fest” and all of the proceeds from the event will go to support the organization’s flagship leadership and mentoring program for girls in Liberia.

Friskies Fest is an annual summer event sponsored by the STC Education and Leadership Fund (SELF), a national nonprofit organization formed by US based Alumnae of ST. Teresa’s Convent Catholic (STC) High School, an all girl’s high school located in Monrovia, Liberia. Held during the first or second weekend in of August each year, Friskies Fest is a symbolic celebration of female education, empowerment, and leadership in the Liberian community

(April 18, 2012) San Marcos, TX – We are very passionate about creating awareness for Africa, but the African Students’ Associations in Texas are equally enthusiastic , and they have been working tirelessly to organize their Third Annual ASO/ASA Weekend. This event aims to share the African experience and offer enlightenment with African culture.

CULTURE NIGHT- AFRICA REDEFINED

(April 11, 2012) Fairfax, VA – Tru-Vision Clothing is thrilled to announce its participation in a culture night, Africa Redefined event at George Mason University presented by the African Student Association, after a successful debut of its 2012 spring collection at Wayne State University’s African Cultural Show.

We are excited to show our 2012 spring collection which has been well received.

The African Student Association will also host an inaugural African Awareness Market (AAM) event prior to the Africa Redefined event. This program will give participating organizations a platform to raise awareness, sell their products, collect donations and provide detailed information to the community about upcoming projects.

Some of our customers traveled from a small, remote village in Africa to the suburbs of New York City; many of them return home every few years to find that Africa, both rural and urban, is captured in our designs. We made this the focus of our upcoming spring collection because our customers spoke candidly when we asked, “What can we design for you?” In short, they wanted to be reminded of “home”; our sole mission is to create bold and captivating designs that remind people of Africa and inspire them to make a difference for the continent.

We are also seeing a growing number of African-Americans embracing our designs, and we could not be more appreciative of their support. African-American Jazz legend Randy Weston said his father always told him that, “You are an African who happens to be born in America”; those same sentiments are still alive in the hearts of people of African descent living in America. Today, Weston will tell you that his successful 50-plus years as a musician are due to his devotion to incorporating African elements into all of his music. If you want to feel inspired, think of Africa.

It is with profound honor that we accept the Liberian Entertainment Award for Best Designer. This is only possible because of the support of our customers and friends. We received a call from the organizers of the Liberian Entertainment Awards informing us that we are nominated for Best Designer. We are honored to be nominated and this reminds us how fortunate we are to be working on our passion. It is also a testament to the loyalty of our customers in the US and around the world. We’ll continue to work diligently to bring an amazing collection of African-inspired t-shirts to the market.
